Stavros Niarchos Language Study Fellowships

The Hellenic Studies Program of the European Studies Council invites applications for modern Greek language study fellowships in approved programs at institutions in Greece (the list of approved sites is available at the Hellenic Studies Program, contact George Syrimis). The fellowships will provide full funding including round trip transportation, tuition, room and board, a book allowance and incidentals for Yale students of exceptional promise to study the modern Greek language. Fellowships may be for a summer and semester combination or for a full year. Undergraduates as well as graduate and professional students are eligible to apply. Stavros Niarchos Research Fellowships

The Hellenic Studies Program of the European Studies Council invites applications to the  Stavros Niarchos Research Fellowship Competition. Graduate, professional and undergraduate students whose work focuses on post-Antiquity or modern Greece and its larger interactions with its neighbors in the European and Balkan regions and beyond are welcome to apply. Pre-dissertation funds are available for Ph.D. candidates to prepare for dissertation research and dissertation funds are also available. Funds are also available for undergraduates at any level to apply for summer support for a research project to explore some aspect of post-Antiquity Greece. Graduate student grants may be for summer or longer terms. Undergraduate grants are designated for summer only. Stavros Niarchos Student Research Grant at the Gennadius Library

The Hellenic Studies Program of the European Studies Council invites applications to the Stavros Niarchos Student Research Grant at the Gennadius Library. Graduate, professional and undergraduate students from Yale University, whose work focuses on post-Antiquity or modern Greece and its larger interactions with its neighbors in the European and Balkan regions and beyond, are welcome to apply. The research project must make use of the Gennadius Library holdings and commit to a period of six weeks. The fellowship will provide funding for round trip transportation, room and board, a book allowance and incidentals for Yale students of exceptional promise. The grant is made possible by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for Hellenic Studies ay Yale University, which supports the Hellenic Studies Program at Yale.

Stavros Niarchos Faculty Research Grants

The Hellenic Studies Program announces the availability of faculty research grants for research on projects within its scope of activity for eligible Yale faculty. Research grants are awarded for studies that will increase understanding of post-Antiquity Greece; for problem-oriented and comparative studies within modern Greece and between Greece and its neighbors; and for studies on Greece in an international perspective. Applications will be reviewed by a committee, chaired by the co-Directors of Hellenic Studies and consisting of selected faculty members affiliated with the MacMillan Center. Applicants will be notified, in writing, by Friday, April 18, 2008. These grants are made possible by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for Hellenic Studies ay Yale University which supports the Hellenic Studies Program.
